We are very proud of 1JH for their achievement today - they shown courage and strength. Some children even got to the top of the wall...a BIG well done to you all!

Welcome back for Summer Term in Year 1. You should have received a copy of our new timetable for this half-term - if not there is a copy below.

We have lots of exciting learning planned!

Museum of Liverpool - Tuesday 24th March

We visited the Museum of Liverpool to look at the toy time line and see how toys have changed over time.

We looked at different toys old and new and talked about what materials they were made of. For the next part of our workshop we looked at how different types of transport has changed over time. We found lots of interesting vehicles!

Have a look at our photographs and ask your child if they can tell you about each one!

During English we have been reading stories with pattern and rhyme. One of our favourite stories was 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt.' We watched the video below, to listen to the pattern of the words. Have a look yourself at home and join in!

http://www.jointhebearhunt.com For a quarter of a century, readers have been swishy-swashying and splash-sploshing through the award-winning favourite picture book We're Going on a Bear Hunt by Michael Rosen, illustrated by Helen Oxenbury In this video, Michael Rosen performs the book - why not sing along with your copy at home!

The children did a fantastic job for our Christmas Nativity last week! A big well done to everyone!

We had a fabulous trip to Chester Zoo! Unfortunately the tigers were fast asleep in their pens because of the high winds. We still got to feel a tiger's fur and look at the teeth of a skeleton tiger. It was a very worthwhile journey for us all!

We are all really excited about going to Chester Zoo to see a real tiger on Tuesday 21st October 2014!

Welcome to 1JH. The children have settled really well into their new classroom and they have already been working hard!

Please can you read with your child as often as possible at home and sign the reading record each time. The children must bring their book bag into school every day!

From September, we have been learning about tigers and humans. We have been labeling body parts and looking at similarities and differences. Our work has gone onto our display boards, which I'm sure you will agree looks fantastic!!
