Welcome back to school 4GD. Keep checking our page for updates and news as well as photographs and videos of what you've been up to.
Mosaics were a popular form of artwork and decoration during Roman times. We will be designing our own mosaics and making them using ceramic tiles. Check back here to see how we do.
We are going to be looking at our city and what we love about it? Why do people come here to live? Why is it growing as a city and what exactly is so cool about it? Why not share what you love about this city on our blog?
Christmas Fun in 4GD!
This morning we all had a great time getting our teachers in a game of 'Pie Face'!!
Check out the pictures below
Welcome back everyone. I hope you had a great Christmas. This half-term we we've got a lot ahead. We are going to be learning about The Anglo-Saxons and what they got up to.
In Science we will be learning about the 3 states of matter.
In Maths we will be looking at fractions and decimals followed by measure and in English we will be learning about stories set in imaginary worlds. Having learnt what features are used to make such a story, we will be writing our own. I hope you enjoy what we have planned and I look forward to seeing your hard work as the term goes on.
4GD recently paired up for a challenge. One child in each pair was a allowed to look at a picture and then had to describe it as best they could to their partner. Their partner then had to draw the picture from their description. This was to allow the children the opportunity to work on their descriptive language and see first hand how good description enables someone else to better understand their thoughts; something which can really help in writing. Have a look below at the pictures they were able to draw as well as the original. I'm sure you'll agree they must have described the picture well.
In Science we have been learning about electricity. We have been making our own circuits and looking at the components needed to do so as well as what would happen if we removed or added different components to a circuit. We have also been testing different materials with our circuits to see if they were better insulators or conductors.
As part of our Geography studies, we have been collecting data on road use from both a city and a village. We will be putting this data into charts in order to compare it. 4GD recently tried using Excel on their computers in order to enter data and create a barchart. They will be using these skills to create their own barcharts regarding road use. They will then be forming and answering questions based on the data presented to them.
4GD have been solving maths puzzles and investigating links between numbers. To do this they have been making full use of the apparatus available in the class room. The children use numicon, base 10 and cuisinaires rods in order to visualise and understand the problems they are solving.
