FOOD BANK DONATIONS
A big thank you to all those children who donated food to our local food bank during Harvest.
Jack,Archy,Deborah and Carys from 4NB had the privilege to see the journey of the donated food and learned all about why it is so vital to our community.
The children took the food to Roscoe School, which is our major food bank depot in our area. This depot distributes the food to most of the north of Liverpool: to schools, churches and community centres for those who need it.
Once the food arrives at the depot, it is taken to a warehouse where it then separated into different food groups.
Without food donations to food banks lots of people would go hungry. People rely on these food banks to help feed their families. This is why it is so important to donate food to our community to those who are less fortunate than us.
Festival of Remembrance 2014
To commemorate the centenary of World War 1, Year 6 pupils presented a Service of Remembrance. The children delivered a superb performance of a play depicting what life was like for the brave men and women who fought to protect our freedom. They also shared readings, poems and prayers which were both captivating and moving.
We were very pleased to welcome some very special visitors to our Festival of Remembrance, including members of our church community, veterans from the world wars and army personnel from the Lancashire Regiment.
To mark the occasion, children from Years 1 to 6 made a gigantic poppy for our visitors which, as you can see from the pictures, was very impressive!
Thank you to all the children, staff and friends of Arnot St. Mary for their contribution to what has been a very special Festival of Remembrance 2014.
Harvest Celebrations & Church School Partnership Award
On Thursday 2nd October, we were very pleased to welcome the Bishop of Warrington to present us with the Church and School Partnership Award.
Bishop Richard, Reverend Latham and other members of our Church community joined us for our Harvest Celebration when we shared in a time of collective worship with songs, prayers and readings about Harvest time and God's generosity in our lives.
We are very grateful to our whole school community for their generosity in donating tins, packets and jars for our Harvest collection which will be given to North Liverpool Foodbank.
We would also like to thank ASDA Walton, TESCO County Road and Yew Tree Farm in Halewood for making generous donations to our Harvest appeal - we're sure you'll agree, it all looks amazing!
After being placed, first second and third in our school category, Tilly Rogan, Ben Sephton and Rebecca Lawson attended a prize giving at the Walker Art Gallery.
School entries accross the city were judged and Tilly Rogan was annouced the overall runner up prize winner in the Year 6 category.
An outstanding achievement for all our shortlisted candidates, but particularly for Tilly Rogan who recieved a spectacular review. The judges described her piece as inspirational with a great sense of movement.
The Dot Art Exhibition at The Walker Art Gallery is open for public viewing until 8th June 2014.
