This week has been a very busy week...
we have had "Health and Wellbeing" week and have had a jam packed week of activities!
In Maths we have been looking at measuring capacity! We measured and compared the amount of water we could fit into different sized bottles. Luckily it was a hot, sunny day so we dried quickly!!
In RE, we have been making coconut treats for Eid!
Welcome back! We have had an exciting start to the new term. In Science, we have planted radish seeds to test what materials they will grow best in. We will have to wait weeks for the results!
For the start of our Science topic on plants, we have looked at plants and trees in our school garden and made observational drawings. We also drew the different parts of a flowering plant.
Year 2 have all worked so hard this week on their SATs but we have been lucky to have some time to have fun and get creative! We have been having lots of extra P.E. and art and craft lessons. Look at all the fantastic things we have made:
For R.E. this term, we enjoyed using all our collected boxes to make models of churches. Look at our creations!
This week we have enjoyed reading, Mr. Wolf's Pancakes. We are going to write our own version. Enjoy it at home too...
Slow Down For Bobby
We had a school assembly about road safety. We shared the book SUPERBOB and learnt the best ways to stay safe on the roads.
Our new Collective Worship theme this term is Trust. We have been playing trust games and working as a team.
For world book day, we worked in groups throughout the school doing lots of exciting activities! In the 2KW classroom, children made puppets and re-enacted a story as puppeteers.
What an artistic week we've had! We have taken inspiration from the Liverpool born artist, Carl Warner and created our own fantastic 'foodscapes' from fruit, vegetables and lots of other foods!
In our topic, we have been learning all about Henri Matisse. We have been recreating his art and making our version of 'The Snail'.
For our science topic, the school nurse came into our class this week to talk about hygiene and hand washing. We used UV gel and a UV machine to see the germs on our hands. Can you see all the germs?! The nurse also showed us the best way to wash our hands to remove germs.
This term we are having a gymnastics lesson on Monday afternoons, please make sure children have their PE kit in school.
Our new topic this term is Muck, Mess and Mixtures! We will be doing lots of art activities so let's get creative! Please bring in a large old shirt T-shirt to wear over your clothes to get mucky.
Despite the rain and the cold, we had an amazing time at Acorn farm! We fed and stroked some very friendly and some quite STINKY animals. Have a look at the photos and see how many different animals we met.
We also found out about some of the things animals need to survive and how important it is to wash our hands after feeding animals!
We have had a fabulous 'Forgiveness Week'.
We have made helping hands with Year 5, learnt how to use breathing to calm ourselves down and talked about forgiveness.
In R.E. this week we have been acting out 'Feeding the 5000. We used loaves and fish and retold the bible story to the rest of our class.
We have had a fabulous time making castles out of all the cardboard boxes sent in from home...thank you!
We even included turrets, draw bridges and the keep in our designs!
For Remembrance Day we made poppies and wore them for Year 6's assembly.
We found it really interesting looking at Lewis's dad's medals too! Thank you Mr Hough! Lewis was very proud to show them to us.
Autumn term 2
Our new topic this term is Towers, Tunnels and Turrets! We have had a fantastic time learning about the different features of a castle. We even built our own castle walls then knocked them down with different projectiles to test them for strength.
In maths we have been using number bonds to ten to solve other addition problems.

We have had a very exciting week this week...
Littlefoot have come into school and helped with our team building skills. We have worked together to make Pirate ships out of blocks, worked as a team to keep our feet dry on a Pirate ship and used our listening skills to find treasure!
we have been working hard in maths this week and made a 'human number line'. We have been estimating where numbers go on our number line and putting numbers in order!
In Maths, we have been working hard adding 2 digit numbers to number lines.
In English, we have been using punctuation to make our writing more exciting!
Some of Year 2 had a residential trip to Crosby Hall. We joined in with lots of exciting activities such as photography, obstacle courses, pottery, crossing a swamp and even learning how to make our beds!!
In our Land Ahoy Topic, we have been learning all about explorers such as Captain Cook, Christopher Columbus and Ellen McArthur. We have been finding out about Caption Cooks explorations and finding them on a map.
In Science, we have been discovering what shape of plasticine floats the best. Look at the boats that we have made!
In English, we have been writing postcards to our family from a desert island. We have been thinking of all the exciting words we can use to describe what we can see on the island.
In Science, we have been on a materials hunt around the playground. Can you spot the metal, wood, plastic and brick?
