A super week everyone! We worked really hard in Maths learning to identify and find fractions. If you want to have a go at home this link will help http://resources.hwb.wales.gov.uk/VTC/ngfl/ngfl-flash/fractions/fractions.html
You could try cutting your food up into halves, quarters and thirds at tea time!
We did some lovely writing too using our book Bear Under the Stairs. Next week we will be looking at information texts and writing about bears - polar bears especially. Can you find any interesting facts about them?
Homework and Friday's times tables quiz will be a mix of 2x 5x and 10x table questions. Will you get 12 out of 12? Links are further down the page for games to play.
Remember your cardboard boxes, kitchen roll tubes etc for making castles on Monday!
Have a lovely Weekend!
2ST made a great start to 2018. We started our new topic - Towers, Tunnels and Turrets with a banquet! In science we have started to explore the best conditions for seeds to grow in. Our English lessons are based on the book Jim's beanstalk which you can watch in the video below.
Spelling and times tables will be coming home each week - play Hit the Button to practise your times tables. https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/hit-the-button
Beatbox Tables is fun too! https://www.nationwideeducation.co.uk/www/flash/bso/bso-flash/index.html
Remember reading together at home really helps your child with all their learning. Bug Club is available to use at home and the children love using it in class. If you have forgotten your log in just let us know in school.
We had an excellent trip to Acorn Farm. We were able to meet, feed and stroke lots of different animals. We also learnt more about how animals grow and what they need to survive and stay healthy. Thank you to 2ST for your excellent behaviour - your teachers were all very proud of you!
Looks like there will be lots of pirate fun at Albert Dock this weekend, if you go we would love to see some pictures of you there!
We had a lovely day today in Year 2 getting to know each other and finding out about life upstairs in Year 2.
We made mind maps to show each other the things that are important to us and Maths Monsters as a way to show facts about ourselves.
We thought about what makes us unique and how important kindness is and read the book We Are All Wonders to help us understand these ideas.
Can you tell you family about Auggie in the story 2ST?
We hope you've had a lovely holiday and are looking forward to coming back to school. We've got a really exciting year planned for you, with lots of interesting trips and new things to learn. You will have two teachers this year. Mrs. Thurgood will teach you on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and Mrs. Sheeran will teach you on a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Our teaching assistant is Miss. Maddox and she will be in our class every day. Our photos are below, so you and your family will be able to recognise us in the playground.
We look forward to getting to know you all better and having a great year together.
