Class 3GC

Welcome to Year 3GC

Welcome to our class page, here you will be able to see the amazing things that we get up to in class and keep up to date with any key information.

Mrs Court and Mrs Newall are super excited for the year ahead, we've got lots of fabulous things planned and cannot wait to get started!

If you need any help or have questions about your child's education please feel free to contact us.

Homework and Reading Books

Children receive homework every Friday and it is due in the following Wednesday.

In 3GC, we want to capture a love of reading, whether it be in our cosy class reading area or at home. Children are encouraged to read their home reading book as often as possible at home, please ensure that your child brings their book into school each day.

Our PE sessions are on Tuesdays. Please ensure that your child has a kit for these lessons.

This half-term we're looking at all things Scrumdiddlyumptious, inspired by the Roald Dahl story of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Children have already made delicious flapjacks. To do this they followed a simple recipe, measuring out the key ingredients and cutting them to size before eventually eating every last bite!

Our food knowledge was put to the test during our tasting session. Pupils had to use their senses to guess specific foods through the texture, taste and smell.

In true Charlie Bucket-style, children went on the hunt for the elusive Golden Ticket, who got access to Willy Wonka's chocolate factory? Children had lots of fun locating the tickets which were hidden around the classroom.

The Stone Age @ Southport Eco-centre

We really enjoyed our class trip to find out more about life in the Stone Age. We got to be archaeologists, which is the name given to people who dig up things from the past, played a Stone Age quiz and got to explore a natural area which would look exactly the same all those years ago!

This term, in PE we are focussing on gymnastics; children have been practising a range of new balances, turns and means of travelling around the room, we're building these together to create one amazing routine!

Science - 13/9/17

Our science topic this half-term is 'Plants'.

Today, children looked at a range of flowering plants and discussed in detail their key parts (roots, stem, leaves etc.) and their functions.

Children worked scientifically and enjoyed dissecting their plants, to see what the inside of a plant looks like!
