We offer 2 hours of PE and School Sport each week along with extra curricular activities and lunch time activities. We have mapped out the curriculum so that children are taught either by a specialist sports coach or class teachers. Our curriculum is also mapped out alongside our Cornerstones units so where possible children's PE lessons are linked with their topic for that half term.
We have also organised for specialist gymnastics, yoga and cricket coaches to deliver lessons during the year.
Key Stage 2 children will go swimming at different stages during the year along with top up swimming in Year 6.
You will find a timetable link below which identifies when children will be attending swimming lessons.
Swimming is a compulsory element of the PE Curriculum. Children must be able to swim 25 metres before they finish school in year 6.
We aim to offer as many different after school clubs as we can for all of our children. Throughout the year, our specialist LSSP coach will lead a multi-skills club for each year group. We are hoping that more will be offered through the year. We want as many of our children to come to the clubs as we can possibly get.
Within our school, PE lessons and after-school clubs provide all of our students with the opportunity to develop themselves holistically by embedding the principles of SMSC in their learning journey. We have created a document below which outlines how PE in our school helps to develop your child in each different area of SMSC.
