Early Years Foundation Stage
Building strong foundations for a lifetime of learning
At Arnot St Mary, we believe that every child deserves the very best start to their education. Our Early Years curriculum provides a nurturing, stimulating and inclusive environment where children feel safe, valued and confident to explore, discover and learn.
We recognise that children arrive with different experiences, interests and starting points. Our carefully planned curriculum builds on what children already know and can do, developing the knowledge, language and skills they need to flourish. Through a balance of purposeful play, high-quality adult interactions and carefully sequenced teaching, we encourage curiosity, independence and a genuine love of learning.
Communication and language are at the heart of our approach. Adults model rich vocabulary, encourage meaningful conversations and extend children's thinking through questioning, exploration and sustained shared thinking. Learning experiences are thoughtfully adapted to ensure that every child, including those with additional needs, can participate, achieve and make progress.
Underpinned by our Christian ethos and REAL values of Resilience, Equity, Aspiration and Love, our Early Years provision supports children's personal, social and emotional development alongside their academic learning.
Our ambition is simple: for every child to develop the confidence, independence and strong foundations they need to thrive as they move into Key Stage 1 and beyond.
