Learning Beyond the Classroom

Enriching experiences - Broadening horizons - Creating opportunities.

QuintaAt Arnot St Mary, we believe that a rich education extends far beyond the classroom. Every child deserves opportunities to explore new interests, discover talents, develop confidence and experience the wider world.

Our enrichment offer is carefully planned to complement and enhance our curriculum, providing memorable, high-quality experiences that bring learning to life. Rooted in our Christian values of Resilience, Equity, Aspiration and Love, it encourages children to challenge themselves, develop new skills, build friendships and broaden their horizons.

In line with the Department for Education's Enrichment Framework, our programme provides opportunities across five key areas:

  • Civic Engagement: Developing responsibility, leadership and a commitment to our community through School Parliament, charitable fundraising, community projects, pupil leadership and opportunities to support others.

  • Arts and Culture: Inspiring creativity through music, singing, theatre visits, school productions, art workshops, museum visits and opportunities to experience live performances.

  • Nature, Outdoors and Adventure: Building confidence, resilience and independence through woodland exploration, outdoor adventures with Best Day Ever (see below), environmental projects, educational visits/visitors and three residential experiences.

  • Sport and Physical Activity: Promoting healthy lifestyles, teamwork and participation through sporting competitions, after-school clubs, swimming, outdoor activities and opportunities to represent the school.

  • Wider Life and Future Skills: Developing practical skills, independence and aspirations through cooking, gardening, STEM activities, digital leaders, enterprise projects and opportunities to explore different careers and future possibilities.

Equity and inclusion are central to our approach. We recognise that not all children have access to the same opportunities outside school. We are committed to removing barriers so that every child, regardless of background or additional need, can participate in meaningful and enriching experiences.

Working with families, community organisations and specialist partners, including Best Day Ever, we aim to provide an ambitious and varied programme that grows with our children throughout their time at school.

Above all, our enrichment offer is about creating opportunities that children might not otherwise experience, nurturing their interests and helping them recognise what they can achieve.

We want every child to complete their time at Arnot St. Mary with lasting memories, greater confidence and the aspiration to embrace new opportunities.
